From pilled to smooth, in four steps.

The Couch Shaver is built to glide across upholstered furniture and take the pilling off as it goes. This page covers your first pass, the simple care routine, and the few materials that need a different tool. If anything here doesn’t match what you’re seeing, contact support.

Operating instructions

  1. Turn The Device On

    Press the power button on the back to start the unit.

    Note: The device is rechargeable with a 2-hour battery life. You can also use the device while plugged in.

  2. Glide Across Your Fabric

    Place the device in your dominant hand. Lay the device against the surface of the fabric. With your off hand, pull the fabric in front of the blade taut. Lightly press the device into the fabric so that the blade can slide beneath the pills. Glide the device across the fabric.

  3. Brush Off Any Loose Pills

    In between passes, turn off the unit and brush away any loose pills from the fabric and remove any lint from the blade of the unit.

  4. Repeat As Necessary

    For particularly stubborn pills, you may need to make more than one pass.

Cleaning and care

After every use

  • Switch the shaver off and unplug it.
  • Sweep the blade area clear with the included brush.

Every three or four uses

  • Run a drop of the included lubricating oil along the blade.
  • Give the oil time to settle before the blade touches fabric again.

Know your fabrics

A few materials need a different tool.

Your Couch Shaver is built for upholstered furniture. A few materials need a different tool:

Angora
— Too delicate — blade may damage the fiber.
Mohair
— Too delicate — blade may damage the fiber.
Cashmere
— Too delicate — blade may damage the fiber.
Loose weaves
— Blade can snag the weave.
Leather
— Not a fabric — blade will mar the surface.
Suede
— Nap will be damaged.
Vinyl
— Surface will scratch.

Everywhere else — couches, cushions, pillows, upholstered chairs — you’re set.
